The challenges of physical work in Agriculture
The agricultural sector presents tough physical challenges that place great demands on those who work in it. Daily activities such as lifting heavy loads, light bending over work for long periods of time are normal. When sowing or harvesting, many repetitive movements take place over long periods of time. These often lead to back pain and fatigue. This physical strain is especially noticeable during peak seasons, such as harvest time, when workload and hours increase.
Long-term exposure to such working conditions can result in chronic health problems, including muscle and joint disorders and back problems. This is not only detrimental to the health and well-being of farmers, but it also affects their labor productivity and efficiency.
In addition, agricultural work often requires the use of tools and machines, which can be an additional burden. Operating this equipment in adverse weather conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, further increases the physical demands placed on farmers.
